Violin made in 18th Century France by Nicolas MATHIEU, born in Mirecourt December 23, 1743, master status from 1775-1789. Bearing the original iron brand of the maker on the neck's back. This violin, beautiful workmanship, has a few breaks on bout, purfling and back, is in a perfect state of condition. The fingerboard has been changed (spline), has a slight unbinding. Orangish yellow-brown varnish; the back measures 357 millimeters (14 in.).
