Two Navy souvenirs.
a). Fine and large bas-relief plaque commemorating the combat of the "La Tartu" frigate against the English frigate "Thames" on October 24, 1793.
Bronze with medal patina. Signed lower right "Eschapasse" and on verso "V.G. Roubaix". 29 x 24,5 cm (11-1/2 x 9-1/2 in.). Presented under a varnished wood frame.

The frigate (1788-1797) was built at Lorient in 1788, christened Tartu, with captian's name in 1793 and set sail on January 5, 1797 by HMS Polyphemus in the Irish Sea. Then took name HMS Uranie (Characteristics: 40 cannons).

b). Souvenir of Fantasque, torpedo-boat destroyer (1934-1957) with a sailboat and a "F". Bronze plaque. On a wood plinth. 19 x 14 cm (7-1/2 x 5-1/2 in.).

Very good condition.
