Terra-cotta votive, glazed on back. Center of terra-cotta depicting Buddha Shakyamuni displaying victory at Māra (Māravijaya), god of death. He is surrounded by disciples. This work narrated other tales (jataka) of highlighted events during his lifetime. The top part represents the last twelve acts of his earthly life “total extinction” (parinirvana).
