Volcanic tuff stone (andesite) stele of Durga Mahishasuramardini. Sculpture representing the grand goddess with six arms, of Durga Mahishasuramardini, Destroyer of demon asura in Buffalo, Mahisha. With halo, wearing a tiara, the goddess is standing atop a conquered buffalo, slain via a pickaxe or trident. Raised lower right hand holds the back of buffalo by tail, while the left hand holds its hide. Other attributes are arrow, disk (chakra), shield and conch shell (shankha). She is terrible aspect of Devi, with a doubt of Aborigene origin. The grand goddess is the personification of divine energies.
