Famous for his equestrian statue of Joan of Arc erected at place des Pyramides, in front of the Tuileries, Paris. Emmanuel Fremiet was renowned for his numerous animal sculptures and famous figures. He was the nephew of Rude, elected to the Académie des Beaux-Arts and exhibited regularly at the Salons after 1843. Many museums possess his works.
