SOUTHERN ITALY

Large covered Rococo earthenware urn atop small pedestal in the manner of Castelli. Polychrome decoration of two scenes on one side depicting Noah’s Ark with figures and coupled animals; and other side with peasant festival with dancing couple and musicians. Ark scene surrounded with flowers in relief. Sides with Rococo reserves with shell presenting ruin landscapes. Cover finial designed as two children playing. Three grotesque makes on base including spout.

Marked underneath with initials “G.B./N.”

Re-glued small pedestal, losses and chips on cover, flowers and base.
