Sandstone high-relief panel. India, 11th-12th Century


Pink sandstone high-relief panel fragment representing a couple of standing divinity assistants with shifted hips in triple pose tribhanga, clothed in dhoti held by silverwork belts and richly adorned with earrings, necklaces and bracelets. One oran by the feminine figure’s feet with joined hands in salutation gesture (anjali mudra).

Northern Central India, Rajputana or Madhya Pradesh, 11th-12th Century.

Height: 38 cm (15 in.) - Width: 22 cm (8-1/2 in.) - Depth: 15 cm (6 in.).
