Fine ceremonial sword for Kingdom of Sweden.
Fully-filigree copper fuse. Chiseled gilt brass accessory. Round pommel. Single branched guard, hilt and bi-valve shell openwork and chiseled with foliages.
Round back blade with hollow sides, engraved, gilt and blued along sections on one side: Sweden’s coat of arms and lettering “JC XIV” (Charles XIV John), under crown and other side: lion mounting and “FO” under crown. Leather sheath with two gilt cut-out and chiseled brass accessories.

Good condition.
Leather sheath added later.

BERNADOTTE Jean-Baptiste (Pau 1763, Stockholm 1844). Marshal of France then later King of Sweden (1818-1844), he reigned under the name of Charles XIV in 1818, succeeding without confrontation Charles XIII.
