Member of the Utopia community in the Central Desert, Roes Pwerle illustrates in this painting a sacred site represented by a concentric circle in the center. The legend associated with this site is only known to the initiated but the wavy lines that accent the canvas are significant of the Great ancestor’s movement The addition of hands is a rare figurative motif and reinforces the formal originality of this work.
