In-8 octavo, red Morocco leather, large gilt decoration on boards, coat of arms in center, ribbed end decorated with fleur-de-lys, a.e.g., blue watered silk end papers (binding of the era).

GOOD EXAMPLE OF RED MOROCCAN LEATHER WITH CAISSE D’ESCOMPTE COAT OF ARMS, PARIS, ornated with gilt plating (Rahir, type K).

Predecessor of the Bank of France and Caisse des dépôts et consignations (Deposits and Consignments Fund), the Caisse d'escompte was created in 1776 and liquidated by Convention in 1793. From the library of Albert de Lassuchette, with ex-libris book plate.
