Rare pewter ecuelle. Epinal, France, Mid-18th Century

Rare pewter ecuelle with console wings ornated with palmettes against a dandy ground and gadrooned contour, fitted with it domed lid with “lacework” relief decoration and daisy finial.

Worn maker’s mark, not fully legible of Gaspard POINTCARRE, master status shortly before 1719: lily (crowned / initials G.P.)
Quality mark: FIN
Mid-18th Century

Height: 10 cm (4 in.) - Length: 27,1 cm (10-2/3 in.)

This model is known for having a very small quantity of examples, one is reproduced in « Les arts décoratifs en Lorraine » by Chantal Humbert, Editions de l’Amateur /1993.

Condition report : Silvered and in good condition, one small plug-in under the silvering on the bowl’s bottom to be noted.
