The Golf de Chantaco was created in 1938 by René Thion de la Chaume,, the course was designed by the famous British architect Harry Colt. The wedding of golf champion, René Thion de la Chaume, and tennis champion René Lacoste was a media sensation at this golf course which was frequented by numerous celebrities.
The arrival of the exceptional player Arnaud Massy for creating these courses gave a considerable boost to this sport. Numerous champions were members of de Chantaco, René and Jean Garraïalde, Bernard Pascassio and of course Catherine Lacoste. Chantaco is like a second home for the Lacoste family.
