Porcelain soup plate. China, Yongzheng Period


Porcelain soup plate painted with Famille Rose enamels of scene representing a sage crossing lake via footbridge. Wall and rocky coast behind him. Closed garden on islet at end of footbridge.
Inner rim is richly decorated with trellis frieze accented by six peony flowers and one second turquoise blue frieze with incised decoration.
Outer rim ornated with frieze of branches and diverse flowers.
Back with three lingzhis, the sacred mushrooms.
