- Porcelain sorbet painted with Famille Rose enamels of cartouches with a dog and a wolf near a house, woodlands on the left, a pond on the right, in the Meissen manner. Interior decorated with gilt enameled embroideries.

China, Qianlong (1735-1795)

Height : 4 cm (1.5 in.) - Diameter: 7,5 cm (2.9 in.)

Light wear on gilt.

The scene is taken from the book ‘Fables d'Esope’ and tells the story of a dog and wolf and when the dog invites the wolf to his home. The engraved print comes from the 1670 edition by Francis Barlow.
