Porcelain plate with “milk and blood” decoration. China, Kangxi Period


Porcelain “milk and blood” plate painted in underglaze red and gilt enamel. Decoration of large Buddhist wheel in center, inner rim with trellis frieze, outer rim with chrysanthemum flowers alternating with other Buddhist wheels.

China, Kangxi Period (1662-1722)

Diameter: 21 cm (8-12 in.)

Few chips on borders. Minor not thorough crack on outer rim. Minor gilt wear.

Two plates and one sugar jar with same pattern from the collections of Auguste II the Strong (1670-1733), Elector of Saxony, are in the collections of Zwinger palace in Dresden, Germany.
