Pewter milk pail. Lyon, 18th-19th Century


Pewter milk pail locally known as a « Dourne », baluster-shaped base, moulded attached vertical handle, spout with fowl’s head and hinged semi-circular lid.

Quality guild mark : ÉTAIN D'ANGLETERRE (Pewter from England)
Guild mark (very worn) : Jean-Baptiste LAUBREAUX master status 1782.

Lyon, late 18th Century or early 19th Century

Height : 36.5 cm (14.3 in)

A peripheral filler on the join of the base with the band lobes. A few dents and cracks on the middle part.
