Pewter cardinal platter. Regensburg, 18th Century


Pewter plate with wide “cardinal” outer rim, fully engraved on outer and curved inner rim with frieze of foliaged and floral motifs, vegetation wreath, center with large fowl feeding its young.

Maker’s mark of Daniel ÜBERSCHAR master status in Regensburg in 1692 : two keys in saltire / plowshare / D.V / 1692. (Erwin HINZE, tome VI, page 202)

Regensburg (Southern Germany), Early 18th Century

Diameter: 39,5 cm (15-1/2 in.)

Soft alloy with few minor deformations on outer rim, the curved inner rim needs to be re-leveled - the engraving is of fine quality.
