Paul Daxehlet (1905-1993) - Belgian painter of African and Oriental scenes. Student of Jacques at OCHS and Francois Maréchal at Academy of Fine Arts in Liège as well as the Julian Academy in Paris. He became professor at the Academy of Liège. He initially painted sport scenes then tropical subjects. In 1951, he received funding from the Colonies Ministry for the Belgian Congo. For eight years he returned frequently to Africa. After 1969, he traveled in other countries notably India, Polynesia, Far East, South America, Morocco, Senegal and Oriental Africa.
