Pierre Bacheller, bailly of noble man Jehan Couppigny, esquire, sire of place Couppigny d’Avion, Sallu, Foucquières and Vies Wendin, be known that December 15, 1436 Baudoin de La Ruelle and his wife Jehanne Macquerel alias Vignon have sold to Jehan Rosse, bourgeois of Bethune, a manor and closure located at Couppigny, and they in care of the sire Couppigny with houses, rooms, garden and constabulary, containing six plots of land.

Parchment sheet, in French written with brown ink over 33 lines; decorated letter

Height: 26 cm (10-1/4 in.) - Width: 57 cm (22-1/2 in.).

Jean Malet de Coupigny married Catherine Antoinette de Brimeu. Herald of three argent eagles on gules with azur beaked and members. In 1435, he acquired the manorialism of Fouquières and Viel Wendin.
The Coupigny Chatueau can be found today in the commune of Hersin-Coupigny, Pas-de-Calais, France.
