Pair of white marble elephants. Richly adorned elephants with raised trunks and standing atop rectangular plinth. The elephant is called hasti and sometimes gaja in Sanskrit and hathi in Hindi. It is a symbol of water, wisdom, strength and dignity. They are often depicted on the bases of Hindu and Buddhist monuments. The elephant is associated along with several divinities as animal support (vahana).
