Nathalie Kraemer, (Paris, 1891 - Deported to Auschwitz, 1943)
From a Polish Jewish family, Nathalie Kraemer was born in Paris where her parents had arrived as refugees. At a young age, she was interested in fine arts and poetry. In 1926, she won a literary prize and published the book, Rising Voices. She spent most of her time painting and participated in several exhibitions including the Salon des Tuileries and the Salon des Independants. During the war, Nathalie Kraemer hid but continued to paint. In 1943, she was arrested and deported to Auschwitz. Some of her paintings were saved by a collector, Mr. Granziani. Today her paintings are mainly in collections in Israel, Haifa University (donation from Oscar Guez) and the Petit Palais in Geneva, Switzerland.
