Born in Saint-Quentin-Lamotte, Michel Douay studied at the Ecole des Arts Appliqués (School of Applied Arts) and began his advertising career in the 1930s. After the Liberation, he worked in the animation studios of Paul Grimault. He continued his career as an illustrator and worked with various newspapers such as La Parisien Libéré, Paris-Match and Point de Vue.
