Meissen. Very important porcelain tea and coffee service

Very important porcelain tea and coffee service within its wood canteen of origin sheathed with red leather. Brass fittings. Green-painted interior with two boxes.
Polychrome decoration of forest hunting scenes. These scenes are placed upon Rococo designs with shells, flowers, branches and trellis enhanced with gilt threading. Gilt threading on borders and stylized gilt motifs on shell handles and spouts for shaped items.

All items are marked with blue crossed swords
Circa 1780-1790

Comprising :

- One covered coffee pot. Decoration on one side of stag hunt caught with net, shooters are ambushed behind a tree to shoot and before a forum of spectators. On other side a standing falconer holding a bird, his seated dog and a falcon perched on tree branch. Lid with reclining stag and standing dog on watch.
Marked with swords
Height : 23 cm (9 in.).
Very minor gilt wear on spout. Two chips under lid’s border. Re-glued finial with few chips.

- One covered tea pot with decoration on one side of lion attacking a horse, which while falling crushes an attacking lion, an indigenous figure behind him. On other side two huntsman with horns surrounded by dogs. Running wolf and dead duck on lid. Finial designed as flowers.

Good condition

- One covered water pitcher with decoration on one side of pig caught in net. Two hunters one with spike and other with axe and approaching dog for assistance. On other side a couple of skunks surprised by two squirrels, one on branch. One running dog and two hopping birds on lid. Finial designed as flowers.
Hauteur : 15 cm (6 in.).
Marked with blue crossed swords. Very minor gilt wear on spout. Very minor chips on flower finial.

- One covered tea caddy with decoration on one side of wolf caught in net, hunter pursuing with axe, his valet holding a net. On other side two dogs overtaking a fox from the back. Sides with one huntsman with horn and his dog at his feet. On other side one huntsman with horn and his leashed dog. Reclining deer and dog on lid. Finial designed as flowers.

Chips on finial

- One circular sugar jar cover (missing sugar jar) representing a boar pursuing a weasel (?) on one side and standing lion scanning landscape on other side.
Diameter : 12 cm (4-3/4 in.).
Chips on flower petals on finial

- One multi-lobed oval ravier side dish with decoration of huntsmen with yellow outfit with blue hemming on horseback blowing horn and pursuing a royal stag attacked by two dogs.
Marked in blue, n° 29 incised mark
Length : 18,5 cm (7-1/4 in.).
Minor gilt wear on borders

- One punch bowl decorated with two hunters on one side attacking a boar, one enforced spike in animal’s stomach, other accompanied by his dog. Water scene on other side of stag attacked by two dogs in river followed by two hunters on horseback. Marked with two blue crossed swords.

- Twelve tea cups, six coffee cups and eighteen saucers, each with different scenes.

Condition report : Broken lock and was replaced later, opening lock on side from the era.
