Louis-Philippe d'Orléans. Autograph letter, 1875

Louis-Philippe d’ORLEANS. 1838-1894. Count of Paris.

Autograph French letter. Signed to M. de Lavergne. Paris, February 9, 1875. 3 in-8 octavo pp., letterhead with his address.

Fine political letter: After thanking Lavergne concerning his son’s birth, the Count of Paris regrets not having been able to have a conversation about all his political acts; “(...) Due to circumstances beyond these daily struggles, which reflect the uncertainties and the division of our country, I cannot and do not want to announce one way or the other the question that my friends share; but I know that even those who sometimes vote in opposite parties and do not always agree on the means, are united by a common thought: oppose both Caesarism and the radicalism of the institutions that maintain France in wisely liberal and honestly conservative ways(...).”
