LIMOGES. Henri Ardant (1828-1883)

Porcelain vase atop small pedestal with decoration one one side of Antiquity scene in relief bisque porcelain against a green ground, representing a standing couple kissing before an altar with Cupid straddling his dog and his head being caressed by the young man. A spray of flowers at the loving couple’s feet and next to smoking censer. This scene is surrounded by am incised threading forming the frame with nails in trompe l’oeil relief then gilt threading forming the frame. The ensemble detaches from blue ground. Large gilt threading on rim’s and base’s borders. Loop handles of gilt ground enhanced with row of relief beads.

Marked in relief inside bluish bisque porcelain oval bearing the initials HA and CIE
