Grand Cross star from July Monarchy Period, attributed to General Flahaut de la Billarderie. Silver modeled into diamond points, silver-gilt and enamel.

Swan hallmark. Averse on center marked « G. YRABURO » (rubbed off) and engraved later « Gal COMTE FLAHAUT de la BILLARDERIE. 1838 »

Biography:
Grand Cross from Legion of Honor in 1838, Charles Flahaut de la Billarderie, became Grand Chancellor of the Order after 1864.
« Le beau Flahaut », biological son of Talleyrand, was the lover of Queen Hortense and father of Duke of Morny, half-brother of Emperor Napoleon III.
