Léa RIVIÈRE (Born in 1960)
The Jump of Serenity
Mixed media on canvas, signed towards lower right.
Léa Rivière Princes du désert, Chérif Fine Art, Sidi Bou Saïd, Tunisia, March 10-April 10, 2006, reproduced in exhibition catalogue.
Originally from France, Léa Rivière, started painting very young with her uncle, who taught her the basics. Her training at the School of Fine Arts in Geneva gave her a vast understanding of abstraction and technique.
Since long ago Léa Rivière has painted women, but horses as well. That inspiration hails from her youth where she worked in an equestrian vacation club. Not surprising to find a horse guide and protector in her works. The artist does not seek to saddle the horseman, rather she captures the veracity of riding. Her interest lies in the intimate and unspoken relationship between the rider and the horse. Her thorough knowledge of movement and anatomy comes from years of teaching. She finds herself among the large and precised drawings that mix with the material on the painting. Her very personal interpretation of the horse communicates a vision of brotherhood and humanism.
She has exhibited in numerous galleries in North America, Europe, and North Africa.
