Fiddle-shaped mantle clock in tulip wood veneer of butterfly wings and chiselled bronze and gilt ornamentation of acanthus scrolls, daisies and friezes known as "Berrain" and espagnolettes. Resting on four palmette feet covering half-spheres, surmounted by a Renown figure. Gilt bronze dial and enamelled plates indicating the hours. Movement signed Jacques Cogniet Paris. Hour striking. Thread suspension. In working condition but not guaranteed. Restorations from wear, minor losses on veneer.

Height : 85 cm (33.4 in.) - Width : 36 cm (14.2 in.) - Depth : 16 cm (6.3 in.)

Condition report : Overhaul in 2011 by Dominique Charlet, in Rouen, Meilleur Ouvrier de France (Best workmen in France) which indicates the date 1723 that is inscribed in the movement. Broken balance stem.
