Gilt bronze mantle clock with mat and shiny finish depicting Clio, the muse of History, holding a stylus in the hand and leaning on a terminal on which she rests works by Homer and Virgil. Under the dial Pegasus springs from the source Hippocrene, signed Charle Quillet in Paris. Base ornated by a frieze of foliage and a bust of Homer framed by two cupids under foliaged scrollwork.
