Gilt bronze and iron Kartrika. China, 19th Century
Ritual blade composed of one semi-circular iron blade with curved tip, chiseled with dragon on each side, inset within a perpendicular gilt bronze handle, topped with half vajra with five branches. It cuts the vital strength of the spirits. Carried by dakinis and numerous wrathful divinities from the Buddhist, Hindu realms and shamans.
