Rare proof cast after the marble, presented at the 1902 Salon and acquired by the Nantes Museum in 1903. Student of Emile Thomas, Georges Bareau makes his debut with the Salon from 1899. He accumulates from there on medallions and receives a golden medallion at the Universal Exposition of 1900, an honorary medallion in 1906. He realized many public monuments, of which the statue of Victor Hugo which was acquired by the City of Paris.
