FRENCH SCHOOL circa 1800, After Boucher

Young Goat Herders and Their Goats in Front of Antiquity Ruins, By a Stream

Oil on canvas

Height: 82 cm (32-1/4 in.) - Width: 91 cm (35-3/4 in.)
Frame: 95 x 104 cm (37-1/3 x 41 in.)

Major restorations

Consult the engraving “Le Moineau apprivoisé” (The Tame Sparrow) after the painting by François Boucher.

Condition report:
The painting’s canvas was re-lined around ten years ago, the re-lining was executed slightly tight. Presented under a dirty and uneven varnish. We note a vertical crease mark that crosses the composition along the middle tree, which entailed restorations. We note restorations scattered in the skyline, notably along the borders. The left temple was heightened in the capitals and upper cornice. Restored tear on the lower left part and lower right part.
