Eduardo Arroyo (1937)
"Money II " 1989
Lithograph on Arches paper. Numbered E.A., from a series of 75 printings + 10 editor’s proof (E.A.).
Published by Manus Presse, Stuttgart and lithograph by Clot, Bramsem & Georges, Paris.
After 1958, fleeing from Francoist Spain, Arroyo lived between Paris and Madrid. He was a major figure in the “Nouvelle figuration” (New Figuration) school and one of the founders of the “Figuration narrative” (Narrative figuration) movement. His painting is ironically conventional, sometimes curt and rough, often lyrical and provocative.
He plays with tragedy and derision.
