Dowry chest. India, 19th-20th Century


Peaked wood dowry chest with iron fittings and light brown patina.
Traditional wood chest offered during wedding ceremonies. The bride places her jewelry and personal items in it. One small door fitted on one sloped side’s center helps close with padlock. Rosaces decoration ornates the chest partitions. Mounted onto four small beaker feet
