Credence display cabinet of toned wood with rich Far East decor: Fo's dog, bronze heron and turtle, Japonism marquetry with ivory, mother of pearl and lacquer.
A display case and two shelves in the upper section.

Signed Viarbot along the plinth.

Gabriel Viarbot, originally a wood sculptor, then managed a family firm of cabinetmakers. He was the creator of a new type of furniture with Chinese and Japanese style. He participated in the Universal Expositions of 1867, 1878, and 1889 where he received numerous medals. The jury stated the he presented Japanese furnitures that were always very interesting due to their tonality as well as their perfect execution.
