Bronze goddess Bhumi-Devi. Southern India, 17th-18th Century


Bronze statuette representing Bhumi-Devi, depicted as standing and carrying a blue lotus flower (utpala) in right hand. She is an avatar of Devi, the grand goddess, as well as divine personification of Earth. She is considered as energy (shakti) for god Vishnu.
