Polychrome decoration representing birds, ducks, lizards amongst bamboo vegetation or aquatic plants; red threading along the borders.
Marked with black Japanese seal.
Length of platter: 39 cm (15-1/4 in.).

Jules Vieillard’s production after 1845 was widely recognized during the universal expositions. In 1865, his son took over and developed an exceptional orientalist style with Chinese motifs and a Japonism period inspired notably by Hokusaî.
