Engraved portrait by DAULÉ after Hyacinthe RIGAUD in frontispice, five fleurons by EISEN on title pages, three being engraved by BOUCHER, 38 vignettes and 22 endpieces, by EISEN, MATHEY and COCHIN, engraved by AVELINE and DE LA FOSSE. Six unsigned figures however by COCHIN, for Le Lutrin.

Cracked joints on tome III at foot measuring 2 cm (3/4 in.); few minor water stains and certains sheets with slight foxings, however GOOD EXAMPLE OF ONE OF THE MORE BETTER EDITIONS OF  BOILEAU from the 18th Century.
« Édition très recherchée, pour son aspect et son format agréable » (Cohen, 168-169). (Very researched edition, for its aspect and good format).
