Jacques Villon, pseudonym for Gaston Duchamp.
Was born in Damville (Eure) France in 1875 and died at Puteaux, 1963. Painter, engraver, lithographist, illustrator, Cubist. Participaced in the founding of the Section d'Or group.
From 1922-1930, while having financially a difficult time he used his engraving prowess to reproduce paintings by Manet, Cézanne, Signac, Picasso, Matisse, Bonnard and Dufy. After 1931, he dedicated himself to painting and subscribed to the Abstraction-Creation group around 1932/1933.
