Born into a notably family from Vétheuil, Abel Lauvra met Claude Monet at a young age. Monet influenced his career choice and he stopped his law studies and followed his advice and enrolled in the Corman Painting Academy. His painting employed subjects, lighting and colors that were endearing to the Impressionists. Abel Lauvray painted numerous portraits and landscapes that were sometimes exhibited at the Salon of French Artists and Salon of Independents. His large production was discovered later after WWII but some of it was destroyed during the Liberation.
