The Olmec civilization is an ancient Mexican civilization born around the 2nd millennium B.C, which flourished between 1200 and 600 B.C. It remains one of the most mysterious civilizations of Mexico. We know the scale of its influence on Mexico from the remains of ceremonial centers (San Lorenzo, La Venta, Tres Zapotes) and of their inventions: the Olmecs are the originators of the Maya calendar, they seemed to know the technology of the wheel (see picture: a toy on casters  *(1)

), a workmanship that we thought was brought by the Spanish conquerors, they used a sophisticated hydraulic network…But their social organization, their rituals or their languages are still unknown.

This pendant with geometrical shapes is as mysterious as the civilization it comes from. However, its harmonious constitution, recalling a stylized feline head, and the use of jade express the elegance of the Olmec art.
