Gilted bronze pendulum clock with a reading subject, ornated with a young lady reading, leaning on the movement which rests on a draped bookcase, with a column supporting an armillary sphere. Green marble plinth on four, bronze moulded feet. Thread suspension.
Enamel dial signed Galle rue Vivienne à Paris et Bled Hger.

Small chip on the enamel and the armillary sphere has been re-soldered.

The prepatory drawings of this pendulum clock by Jean André Reiche, dated 1809, is conserved at the French National Library. Claude Galle, Master status in 1786, established shop on rue Vivienne from 1806-1827. He was one of the more renown bronze smiths of the Empire Era.
Bled, Parisian clockmaker, was noted as working on rue Neuve Saint Martin during the Empire Era.
