11 x 14 cm (4-1/2 x 5-1/2 in.)

Léon Jouhaud was born in Limoges in 1874 and began his studies in medicine which led him to the local civilian and military hospital in Limoges then to the battle front in 1914 and 1915. He took numerous notes and edited his memoires with the critical eye of a painter. His artistic activity allowed him to participate in the Exposition des Artistes indépendants beginning in 1910 where he exhibited some pastels. But his activity as an enameler holds attention. His rare works are conserved at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris and the Musée de l'Evêché, Limoges.
