Trained in painting, Jean Mayodon exhibits in 1919 his first ceramics at the Palais Galliera.
Creator of famous earthenwares with cracked enamel, he realized a number of vases which permitted him to be nominated as artistic consultant then director of the Manufacture de Sèvres during the 1930-40s. These objects are a great frenzy on the market, for example a cermamic, gourd model auctioned for 11,500 Euros last November at Le Havre; in addition, another vase with an antique decor against a jasper background, sold for 54,000 Euros in October, 2003 (Christie's Paris).
